The Minister of State II for Power, Works and Housing, <\/span><b>Suleiman Zarma<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, made this know when he paid a courtesy visit on the Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi. The minister was in the company of some ministry\u2019s officials in the state as part of a routine assessment of the federal government projects on roads, housing, and power. He said the essence of the tour was equally to highlight the federal government\u2019s achievements because it has been working so hard and much but little was being said about its achievement. \u00a0\u201cIt is the promise of <\/span><b>President Muhammadu Buhari <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to deliver massive infrastructure and we have invested in infrastructure massively. \u201cThis government has committed over N3 trillion in infrastructure and more will come in subsequent budgets so that it can deliver on roads, power, and housing massively.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mr. Zarma noted that the roads in the state have been substantially completed while the received <\/span><b>SUKUK Sovereign Fund<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which was a bond reposed confidence on the investors. \u201cWe promised increment of power, and it has increased, 7,000 megawatts is being generated and 5,000 megawatts being transmitted. He noted that the<\/span><b> National Housing Programme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> site in the state, located at<\/span><b> Crusher in Lokoja<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with 72 housing units was already 90 percent completed. He commended the state government for its unprecedented collaboration in actualising the housing programme adding that more housing units would be built after the phase one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mr. Bello was represented by the <\/span><b>Deputy Governor of Kogi<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Simon Achuga. He said Nigeria was referred as a third world country because its infrastructural development was not adequate adding that the government must ensure that infrastructural development was achieved. \u201cI have been briefed that you have inspected the progress of work at many roads along this axis and you are yet to see<\/span><b> Idah -Nsukka road<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cFrom <\/span><b>Nsukka<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to <\/span><b>Abuja<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> you will not spend more than three hours thirty minutes if that road is in order. The same thing goes to <\/span><b>Lokoja-Kabba-Mokwa road<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Ilorin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Axis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The governor further urged the Federal Government to hasten up in putting these roads in good condition to enhance hitch free vehicular movement especially the <\/span><b>Lokoja-Ajeokuta-Anyingba road<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cWork has been going on there but the spate of work has not met the yearnings of the people, we want to appeal to you to finish the work in good time. \u201cWe are appealing that as the dualisation continues; let it expand through <\/span><b>Okene-Benin road<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Ankpa-Otukpa road<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cWe are happy that the Federal Government has devoted money, energy and time for infrastructural development; we are ready to collaborate for the infrastructural projects to succeed and be sustained.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Source: Premium times<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The federal government of Nigeria has committed over N3 trillion on infrastructure development in the country.
