The gist of world\u2019s youngest billionaire and founder of facebook’s visit to Nigeria is no longer news. However, I am still baffled by his choice of location which is Yaba<\/a>. I would love to point out some interesting things about his visit.<\/p>\n

Many people, including me, expected that the billionaire wouldn’t have anything to do with the mainland. Let alone, walk on the streets of Yaba. Zuckerberg\u2019s first stop was the Co-Creation Hub in Yaba<\/a> where he watched children learning to code. He interacted with at least 50 local startup founders and developers. Interestingly, he trekked over 2km through the streets of Yaba to get to Andela, a company focused on grooming software developers, which he currently invested a lot of money in – precisely $24 million for talent development. A session was held for questions and answers. Mark claimed he came to sit with the tech people to listen to their questions and to learn.<\/p>\n

Yaba is considered to be the tech center of Nigeria and houses<\/a> numerous creative spaces and tech start-ups. On his way to Andela, Zuckerberg stopped by to visit Express wifi, where he met the founder Mrs Rosemary Njoku, to him Nigerians have a positive attitude to win. Zuckerberg commended Nigeria\u2019s vibrant development and entrepreneurial ecosystem. He claims that there is energy in Lagos <\/a>which the world needs to see.<\/p>\n

Personally, I believe this has shown a level of humility in Zuckerberg. It shows his high esteem for value in place of luxury. I am baffled by the fact that he chose to trek and his claim to want to learn. What do Nigerians possibly want to teach him about tech that he doesn\u2019t know? To me, this shows that real wealth comes with a lot of humility.<\/p>\n

Nigerians cannot just stop been Nigerians, that\u2019s the fun. Different pictures and DPs have been created and used on social media platforms to depict Zuckerberg\u2019s visit to Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Some very hilarious trends have been trending on Twitter. Smart marketers like ToLet.com.ng<\/a> have been using this news to create a buzz on twitter and on facebook as well. So many comments and so many retweets are on the post.<\/p>\n

Houses at Yaba <\/a>are now hot cakes because Mark Zuckerberg walked on the streets. It no doubt that people looking forward to relocating might be looking out for flats in Yaba<\/a> against the high demands for properties on the Island. However, this is just a mere assumption.<\/p>\n

At this point, I am convinced that Nigerians should learn the real lesson behind Zuckerberg\u2019s visit to Nigeria, which is humility, development, and expansion. Definitely, Zuckerberg is concerned with the future of Facebook and the Tech industry, and he encourages expansion. This can be deduced from his own words \u201cEvery system can be better, no matter how good or bad it is\u201d.
