NEMA North East Coordinator, Alhaji Muhammad<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">NEMA North East Coordinator, Alhaji Muhammad Kanar told newsmen in Maiduguri that arrangements for the displaced persons to return home became necessary following the gradual return of peace to Borno. Kanar pointed out that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tolet.com.ng\/blog\/how-housing-policies-in-nigeria-affects-the-poor\/\" target=\"_blank\">officials of the agency<\/a> were in Gwoza last week on an assessment visit towards actualizing the plan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ALSO READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tolet.com.ng\/blog\/how-to-get-a-house-without-saving-in-nigeria\/\" target=\"_blank\">How to get a House without Saving in Nigeria<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We accompanied the Senate Leader Alhaji Muhammad Ndume on an assessment visit to Gwoza to find out the situation of things, especially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tolet.com.ng\/blog\/one-solution-to-the-problem-of-homelessness-in-nigeria\/\" target=\"_blank\">the living conditions<\/a> of the IDPs in the area.\u201cWe also visited different camps housing the Displaced Persons from Gwoza in Yola and other places in Adamawa State. \u201cThe essence was to assess the situation on ground and to prepare for their early return home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe were surprised that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tolet.com.ng\/blog\/5-best-family-hangout-spots-in-lagos\/\" target=\"_blank\">most of them were eager<\/a> to return home, some even expressed willingness to return immediately.\u2019\u2019<br \/>\nHe said that following the outcome of the visit, NEMA had resolved to collaborate with the Borno State Government toward the evacuation of IDPs back home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI cannot say exactly when they will return, but I believe that going by the outcome of our visit, they should be evacuated home in a few weeks\u2019 time,\u2019\u2019 Kanar said.The team also presented 1,700 bags of assorted food items comprising rice, beans, and maize to the IDPs in Gwoza as relief materials before departing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ALSO READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tolet.com.ng\/blog\/ministry-plans-50000-housing-units-for-its-staff\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ministry Plans 50,000 Housing Units For It&#8217;s Staff<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ndume had on Aug. 8, announced plans to close down IDPs camps hosting Gwoza indigenes in Abuja, Lagos, Maiduguri and other places by relocating them back home. Gov. Kashim Shettima had also issued a deadline of May 29, 2017, for the closure of all IDPs camps in the state.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Homelessness has posed a big challenge to the Nigerian society. So many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tolet.com.ng\/blog\/love-suicide-and-homelessness-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nigerians are either homeless<\/a> or improperly housed. Even in states where there are no cases of terrorism.
