2. Amassoma<\/span><\/h2>\n

Amassoma city<\/strong> is situated in Southern Ijaw part of the Bayelsa state local government areas. According to the Bayelsa state map, Amassoma is some 30km away from Yenagoa, the state Capital. Amassoma is a waterside city like most Ijaw villages, with a rich Ijaw cultural heritage. It is safe to say that it is one of the biggest Ijaw town, second only to Arogbo town in Ondo state. The state-owned Niger Delta University has the city as its host community. The International Cargo Airport which was undertaken by the Federal Ministry of Aviation is also situated here.<\/span><\/p>\n

The brass<\/strong> city<\/strong> is the most popular city in Bayelsa, second to the state capital. Brass is a Local Government Area in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Twon-Brass on Brass Island along the coast. It has a coastline on the Bight of Bonny. Much of the area of the LGA is occupied by the Edumanom National Forest. <\/span>The brass city is home to a good number of the tourist attraction centres in the state. Tourist attractions in Brass city include beautiful Atlantic Ocean beaches, the graves of British soldiers who died in the Nembe-British fighting of 1895, Mungo Park Residence, Akassa Slave Transit Camp and Tunnel, Akassa Wildlife Forest as well as the old consulate buildings. Brass is also known for its boisterous commercial activities. There are plans for a multibillion-dollar gas facility on Brass Island. 4. <\/span>Nembe\u00a0city<\/h2>\n

Nembe city<\/strong> is the base for the Nembe Kingdom. The Nembe Kingdom is a traditional state in Niger Delta. It includes the Nembe and Brass Local Government Areas of Bayelsa State, Nigeria. The traditional rulers take the title “Amanyanabo”. Today, leadership is split between the Amanyanabos of Ogbolomabiri, Bassambiri and Twon Brass. From the 2006 census of the Bayelsa State population, <\/span>Nembe had a population of 130,931. Just like Brass city, much of the area of the LGA is also occupied by the Edumanom National Forest. Attraction centres in Nembe include the Marble Monument of late Chief Christopher Iwowari, the Statue of late King Ockiya Mausoleum at Ogbolomabiriin and the Ancient <\/span>Nembe War Canoe Regatta.<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Odi<\/span><\/h2>\n

Odi city<\/strong> is one of the cities in Bayelsa that still clings very tightly to their cultural heritage. This is evident in the <\/span>Odi Ogori Ba Uge, the biggest festival celebrated by Odi people of Kolokuma\/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. Every year on July 27th, the community rolls out its drums for dances; its boats for regattas and showcases several pageants to spice the festivities. The festival is held to mark the victory over a mysterious buffalo (Ogori), which kept the community under a siege of attacks for five years. It was recorded that during this period no fewer than five persons were killed by the buffalo. A solution to the problem was sought by one of the indigenes, Chief Nengi Thomson <\/span>Agedah, who reportedly went on a journey to get help from a certain Mallam of Tara.<\/span><\/p>\n

6. Ogbia<\/span><\/h2>\n

Ogbia City<\/strong> has an area of 695 km\u00b2 and a population of 179,926. The city is well known for its value to the present Nigerian state economy mainstay as well as the history of Bayelsa State. The Oloibiri oil museum where oil was first discovered in West Africa is a major attraction centre in the city of <\/span>Ogbia. Fishing and farming are the major commercial activities of the residents of this city. Oporama<\/strong> located in Southern Ijaw is an area that has a coastline on the Bight of Benin. Izon is the major language spoken by the people of Oporama. It has institutions like the Niger Delta University(NDU), the state’s airport in Amassoma and Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe. It is the home of Kolu United FC of Koluama II. The first democratically elected Bayelsa State Governor, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha (DSP) hailed from the area. Okpoama beach is the main attraction centre in this city.<\/span><\/p>\n
