India is the seventh-largest and the second-most populous nation in the world, with over 1.2 billion people. Nigeria\u2019s size in area is about a fourth of India\u2019s. As of 2015, Nigeria is the world’s 20th largest economy, worth more than $500 billion in terms of nominal GDP, while <\/span>that of India in 2017 is US$2.454 trillion, making it the sixth-largest economy by market exchange rates.\u00a0Nigerian GDP at purchasing power parity (PPP) has almost tripled from $170 billion in 2000 to $451 billion in 2012. The number of Indians living in Urban areas has also grown by 31.2% between 1991 and 2001, and in<\/span>\u00a02011, India had 486.6 million workers, making her world’s second-largest labour force, but she still faces socio-economic challenges.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In 2006, India contained the largest number of people living below the World Bank’s international poverty line of US$1.25 per day. According to a Food and Agriculture Organization report in 2015, 15% of the population is undernourished and 30.7% of her children under the age of five are underweight.<\/span><\/p>\n

Challenges such as low capital goods import, infrastructural decay, and minimal\u00a0private sector investment, affect sustainable and inclusive economic and social development within India. Nigeria is classified as a mixed economy emerging market and has already reached lower middle income status according to the World Bank, with its abundant supply of natural resources, well-developed financial, legal, communications, transport sectors and stock exchange (the Nigerian Stock Exchange), which is the second largest in Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n

Petroleum<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>plays a large role in the Nigerian economy, accounting for 40% of GDP and 80% of Government earnings.\u00a0<\/span>Nigeria is the 12th largest producer of petroleum in the world and the 8th largest exporter and has the 10th largest proven reserves. Agriculture used to be the principal foreign exchange earner of Nigeria<\/span>. As of 2010, about 30% of Nigerians are employed in agriculture, but the largely subsistence agricultural sector has not kept up with rapid population growth, and the country now imports some of its food products.\u00a0<\/span>For decades, Nigeria has been\u00a0hindered by mismanagement, suffering recession in the past one year.
