The Edo Development and Property Authority (EDPA) has commended residents in some of its estates for the level of compliance recorded during its ongoing recertification exercise and also warned others to comply with the exercise to make way for development in the estates. The recertification exercise, which kicked off in\u00a0November 2017, continued in EDPA estate in Ugbowo, on January 8. It is aimed at building an up-to-date database of occupants in the estate, identifying illegal occupants and to provide data for the revamp of some of the estates.<\/span><\/p>\n

The administrative secretary, EDPA, Mr. Anthony Erameh said that the agency has recorded impressive turnout in some of the estates, even as some residents are yet to comply with the exercise. According to him, an exercise was carried out at \u00a0Iguosa Estate before the Christmas holiday about 70 percent compliance was recorded on the recertification exercise. Also, at Andrew Wilson Estate, over 90 percent compliance was recorded. The exercise at BDPA, Ugbowo Estate is still in progress. He also added that at Oregbeni about 50 percent compliance was recorded. According to him, the exercise didn\u2019t meet some of the people at home initially and when we met some of them, they did not cooperate with the staff \u00a0although some people say they don\u2019t see any reason for the recertification, we have asked them to comply with this exercise because it will not only provide us with data to work on the estates, it will help in securing their ownership of their property in the long-run.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although, at the Federal Housing Estate in Aduwawa, the exercise recorded 80 percent compliance. However, some of those who couldn\u2019t do the recertification exercise are still coming to the office for the exercise. He stressed that the state government was committed to utilizing data gathered from the exercise for decision-making and to sanitize the estates. Tenants at BDPA Ugbowo and Oregbeni estates encouraged others to cooperate with EDPA officials to ensure they are captured in the agency\u2019s database, which comes with attendant advantages.<\/span><\/p>\n

The exercise continues at Iyekogba and Ogbe \u2013 Ibuya Housing Estates and other complaints will be treated the following week.<\/span><\/p>\n
