Central Business District (CBD), also called Central Area by Abuja residents, is the spinal cord of Phase 1 and the prime business zone of Abuja. It is the seat of government’s administrative affairs where most parastatals, banks and multinational corporations have their offices. It is worthy to note that the Central Business District is very accessible from any other part of the city. A few of the other sites worth seeing in the area are; National Library, Aso Hill, the Abuja Plant Nursery, Ministry of Defense, also known as “Ship House” and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
National Hospital Abuja is the Popular Health Facility in this area. Hotels located here include; Chelsea Hotel, Areaway Suites, and Reiz Continental Hotel among others. The National Mosque and National Church are located opposite each other on either side of Independence Avenue. Restaurants located in this area include; Kay Tee Restaurant, De Peak Hotels, Care De Kalabar Kitchen and Grand Restaurant. Flyingdove Institute of Information Technology and Midas Flying Training School are part of the prominent schools in Central Business District.
Central Business District as the name implies is majorly a commercial district with a little reservation for residential purposes. The residents of CBD are the well to do individuals who majorly belong to the high class.

Grand square is an ultra-modern shopping centre you can get your groceries, bread and any other goods you need at an affordable price. Wuse Market and Garki Market are closest markets to CBD where you can purchase perishable items
Cedi Plaza, located in the Central Business District, is one of the popular hangout spots in the Central Business District. Asides from having speciality shops, its movie theatres, restaurants, the Champagne Lounge and cafes are its main attraction. The Silverbird Cinema is also another cool hangout spot in the Central Business District.
