Awgu
Awgu is the administrative headquarters of the Awgu Local Government Area (LGA) in Enugu State, Nigeria. Situated approximately between latitudes 6°00’ and 6°19’ North of the Equator and longitudes 7°23’ and 7°35’ East of the Greenwich Meridian, Awgu is bordered by Udi and Nkanu West LGAs to the north, Oji River LGA to the west, Aninri LGA and Ivo LGA of Ebonyi State to the east, and shares a southern boundary with Umunneochi LGA of Abia State.
The town is renowned for its picturesque landscapes, characterized by extensive hills on the western flank and lowlands in the eastern side. These hills, with steep slopes reaching altitudes of about 350–400 meters above sea level, are composed of shales, sandstones, and escarpments.
